“A1 on” started functioning in 2012. After its establishment, the portal was staffed by journalists who previously worked at the then very recently closed "A1" television.
Thus, the very name of the portal was chosen because the website was considered as an online continuation of the private television that had just gone out of business in 2011 due to financial irregularities.
The portal was established by journalist Predrag Petrovic under his company, “Online Media”.
In 2017 a prominent IT sector businessman Igor Leshtar joined the ownership of “A1 on”. The following year witnessed “A1 on” becoming a part of Leshtar's media group, “Klip Media”, which holds ownership of a total of ten portals.

Has been working as a journalist for several decades. He was a journalist in the influential private television "A1" which was closed after 18 years of work in 2011. The medium was officially shut down due to financial irregularities, but critics at the time considered it to be a politically motivated move by the center-right party VMRO-DPMNE which was in power in the country from 2006 to 2016 because "A1" was a critic of the government. After its closure, some of the television journalists then decided to form their own online media.

Is a well-known Macedonian businessman. He entered "Online Media DOO Skopje" in 2018 through the company "Klip Media", of which he is still the owner of.
Leshtar is known in the Macedonian public as the head of the international company for software development and consulting services "Seavus", which in December 2020 was sold to the "Aricoma" group from the Czech Republic. He later announced that he would continue to work with Malta-based IT firm “Sinami”.
