Fokus

"Fokus" is the oldest weekly newspaper in North Macedonia, publishing journalistic articles on political and social topics. Founded by journalist Nikola Mladenov, the first issue of the weekly paper was published on June 23, 1995.

During the period from 2011 to 2013, besides the weekly, Nikola Mladenov also established a daily newspaper simply called "Daily Fokus".

On the evening of March 26, 2013, Mladenov died in a traffic accident near Skopje. Both the weekly and the daily newspaper ceased publication, and the company that published them was closed.

The "Fokus" weekly resumed publication in June 2013, with a new company, "Media Plus Fokus", as its publisher.

Since 2018, "Fokus" has been receiving state subsidies, covering half of the costs for printing and distributing the newspaper. For the period 2018-2022, it received approximately 297,000 euros.
