Vecer
"Vecer" is one of the oldest Macedonian newspapers. Its first issue was published on November 11, 1963.
"Vecer" started as a publication of the Socialist Union of Skopje. It was published within the "News Publishing Company Nova Makedonija", the main publishing house for print media in the socialist period (until 1991).
In the transitional 1990s, the newspaper continued to operate successfully, but later the state publishing house declared its bankruptcy and the newspaper was put up for sale.
In 2003, after the brand was bought by the marketing company "Idea Plus", the newspaper "Vecer" became a privately owned media for the first time. Three years later, after the failed realization of the business plan, in 2006, the businessman Bojo Andreski, owner of the European University in Skopje, bought the newspaper. Andreski was close to the then ruling VMRO-DPMNE party led by ex-prime minister Nikola Gruevski. Andreski also had his own political party called "Party of Justice", which was part of the pre-election coalition led by Gruevski. After Andreski’s takeover of the newspaper, there was a period of adjustment of the editorial policy to the interests of the ruling party. This process was carried out through the newly created editorial duo from "Sitel Television" - Dragan Pavlovic Latas, as editor-in-chief, and Ivona Talevska, who was deputy editor until 2012 when she became editor-in-chief.
When VMRO-DPMNE lost power in 2017, Ivona Talevska left "Vecer" and Vesna Micic Bozinovska was appointed as the new editor-in-chief, who is still in that position.
Then came the separation of the newspaper and its website "Vecer.mk", when the editor Ivona Talevska and a small team of journalists separated the site into an independent media outlet, while the newspaper had to register a site with a different domain.
