The commercial broadcasting company Kanal 5 DOOEL Skopje is registered in 1998 as an entity for broadcasting activities. In the beginning it was a daughter company of the Graphic company "Pecatnica BS", but later it became an independent company. In any case, the control of the company has always been held by the Stojmenov family, first the founder Borislav Stojmenov, and today his older son Emil Stojmenov. Today CBC "Kanal 5" is fully owned by Emil Stojmenov and is not directly connected with other companies of the Stojmenov family, which are in the field of financial services and business consulting.

The founder of the television is Borislav Stojmenov, born on April 4, 1940 in the village of Veljusa, Strumica. He has a Master's degree in accounting and finance and a Master's degree in marketing. He is one of the founders of the center-right party VMRO-DPMNE. He was the Minister of Finance in Ljubco Georgievski's government from 1998 to 1999. After the split in the party that followed the fall of the government, he founded a new party which eventually merged with VMRO-DPMNE in 2012. He is the founder of several companies related to financial and consulting services.
