The company for digital media "Online Media DOO Skopje" is the publisher of "A1on". which started working in 2012. After its establishment, the portal was staffed by journalists who previously worked at the then very recently closed "A1 television". Thus, the name of the portal was chosen because the website was the online continuation of the private television that had just gone out of business in 2011 due to financial irregularities.
Predrag Petrovic was the founder of the portal from its beginning. Five years after its establishment, the company "Nova Media" entered into "Online Media DOO". Then from 2018, it became part of the "Clip Media" group, which owns a total of ten portals. The sole owner of "Clip Media" is Igor Leshtar.

The medium was officially shut down due to financial irregularities, but critics at the time considered it to be a politically motivated move by the center-right party VMRO-DPMNE which was in power in the country from 2006 to 2016 because A1 was a critic of the government. After its closure, some of the television journalists then decided to form their own online media.
