Peter Schatz
Peter Schatz is a Hungarian businessman, known as the founder of the Hungarian media outlet "Ripost", whose editorial policy favors Fidesz, the right-wing ruling party in Hungary which is ideologically close to the Macedonian center-right VMRO-DPMNE. He was also active in the media business in Slovenia where he owned media, "Nova 24TV" and "Democracija" (he sold his shares in 2022) that favored the policies of the party SDS, which also belongs in the same ideological matrix as Fidesz. Schatz worked as the commercial director of "Danubius Radio" in the 1990s and later at Hungarian public television.
He became the dominant owner of "Alfa" TV in 2017 through buying controlling shares at "Alfa" TV. He is the sole owner of "Target Media", which has a 99 percent stake in the company "CHS Invest" which holds 57 percent of the shares of the company "Alfa Skop", the direct owner of the commercial broadcasting company "Alfa".
Peter Schatz’s motives for entering the Macedonian media business remain unknown. In 2020 he was charged by the Macedonian financial police for tax evasion. He is not present on the Macedonian public scene and there is little information available about him.
